The production process of paperboard is to separate wood or other plant fiber materials into single fiber like objects by chemical and mechanical methods, and then bleach these fiber objects, that is, pulp.
The process of making pulp is:
Material preparation: The raw materials of wood must be treated to meet the requirements of cooking or pulping. Wood peeling, the bark of wood has high fiber content and many impurities, which will affect the quality of pulp, so peeling operation must be carried out. Then there is chipping, which is used to cut wood into thin pieces of certain specifications to adapt to the process of making pulp.
Pulping: Melt wood chips under a certain temperature or pressure to become pulp, and then remove impurities. Odor will be generated during the pulping process, which is harmful to environmental pollution and human health.
There are many kinds of pulping, including chemical pulping, mechanical pulping and chemical mechanical pulping. When the pulping is completed, the pulp will be bleached according to the requirements of the produced paper. This section will produce a large amount of black liquor, which is the source of pollution. However, if the production of natural color paper, such as the production of carton paper, is brown yellow rather than white, bleaching and washing can be avoided.
When the pulp is produced, it will enter the papermaking section. However, the pulp produced cannot be directly used for papermaking. If it is directly used for papermaking, the paper will be easily torn and not firm. Therefore, it is necessary to further treat the produced pulp according to the production process, that is, use a refiner to grind the pulp, so that the fibers can be differentiated into very fine fluff, increase the adhesion between fibers, and make the paper firm. At the same time, according to the requirements of the finished paper, some fillers, such as calcium carbonate powder and titanium powder, will be added to the pulps after grinding, which can make the paper whiter. The gelatinized starch (surface sizing) on the paper surface can make the paper easier to print and write. If there is no sizing paper, writing on it will diffuse the ink, such as writing on toilet paper with a pen. After sizing, the paper is further dried and then calendered to make the paper more smooth and shiny. After the pulp is grinded, it is sent to the headbox through the flow pipe (to make the pulp evenly distributed on the filter screen). After the paper is filtered (filtered at the screen part), it enters the press section, where the water in the wet paper is squeezed out, and then it enters the drying section for drying. Then sizing, drying, calendering, crimping, rewinding (to remove the paper edge because the paper edge is too rough), and slitting. Paper is produced in this way.
